Support Planning team

Our skilled Support Planning team share a passion for making lives better. Reflecting the various stages of a participant’s journey, the team includes Support Planner, Support Planner – Community, Community Services Coordinator, Case Assessor and Team Support roles. The team focuses on participant-centred case management to maximise health and community participation, support independence and assist participants to achieve their goals.

The team work together to deliver quality coordinated, efficient and evidence-based services to participants and their families. Every day involves working closely with participants to assess their treatment, care and support needs and to help them access services in their community.

Andrea has a background in clinical exercise physiology and has spent most of her career working in the disability sector, including working for a similar scheme interstate. 

“Working in this industry is an opportunity to work with the most highly motivated group of people I have ever met. I know the difference that this kind of work can make in people’s lives. I think it is important to creating a society where everyone is valued. Every day is inspiring to see what people can achieve. ,” said Andrea.

Dan has a background in the Australian Defence Force, domestic violence prevention work, child protection as a youth and recovery worker, as well as a crisis suicide prevention support worker.

Dan has a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and physics and is currently completing a honours undergraduate degree in psychology.

“In my role as a Service Support Officer I supplement and support the capacity of the Support Planning Team in order to ensure efficient, effective and participant-centred support reaches our participants. It is a real privilege getting to be a part of our vision of Making Lives Better,” said Dan.

Genevieve has twenty years experience as an Occupational Therapist in Australia and Canada, including specialised experience in spinal cord injury and acquired brain injury rehabilitation. Genevieve has worked in various public sector spinal cord injury rehabilitation services, and founded her former private practice which provided community case management and rehabilitation management.

“I enjoy working collaboratively with participants and their families to identify meaningful personal goals by engaging in goal planning discussions. I have a passion for assisting the participant and their family in identifying the steps required to achieve these goals and creating the plan that will ultimately work towards these goals,” said Genevieve.

A qualified Psychologist with a PhD in Neuropsychology, Hannah has a strong interest in recovery from brain and spinal injuries and experience working in occupational rehabilitation, facilitating return to work following workplace injury.

Hannah understands the importance of ‘whole person recovery’ and the positive impact that early intervention, good quality therapies and proper support can have on outcomes for people with serious personal injuries.

"The NIISQ team is a wealth of knowledge and experience in serious personal injuries. Our participants have access to expertise across allied health, community engagement, and rehabilitation areas to drive the best possible outcomes for our participants. Seeing our participants go from strength to strength, from hospital to their home, from dependence to independence is a privilege to see and be part of," said Hannah.

Karen has experience working for another scheme sourcing the repairs and maintenance of client equipment such as wheelchairs, shower chairs, hoists and walking aids, and arranging the approval and provision of new equipment for clients to enable them to have a better quality of life. Karen also has experience working as a school officer aiding and encouraging children with learning and physical disabilities to achieve their best.

“I love working for NIISQ as I can see it is giving a quality of life to people who have experienced a life changing injury. Listening to the passion the Support Planning team have for their participants and hearing about participant achievements makes me smile every day," said Karen.

Kerry has a wealth of experience across occupational rehabilitation, return to work and driving assessment, spinal cord injury and neurological rehabilitation within both the hospital and community sectors.

In addition to holding a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Kerry has Occupational Therapy driving assessor qualifications, with a Graduate diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and a Masters of Applied Science – Research. Kerry has a long-time interest in the driving outcomes of people with acquired brain injury, having completed her research thesis on the subject.

“Throughout my career, I have been privileged to work with people from various backgrounds, life stages and disability, and believe that collaborative relationships enable people to achieve great outcomes. I hope to help NIISQ participants to successfully adapt to their life roles, occupations and interests,” said Kerry.

Leigh has strong knowledge, understanding and networks in the disability services sector from her experience working in other government agencies.

Lisa has qualifications in person-centred planning and disability along with an extensive human services career portfolio including mental health, education, public service (Australia and UK), complex disability support and case management. Lisa enjoys being an ‘outside the box’ thinker and applies this creative thinking to support NIISQ participants.

“Communication is everything and underpins every interaction. I consciously seek out our participants voice and work alongside them to support them to live their best lives. Working for NIISQ Agency enables me to offer our participants the opportunity to develop to their fullest, which is what motivates me. A highly qualified Occupational Therapist, Rachel has a PhD in the area of children’s play, in which she conducted a qualitative study of lived experiences. Rachel has worked extensively as a Clinical Advisor with another statewide government scheme as well as being a therapist in hospital and community settings both in Australia and the UK. In all of her roles, Rachel is dedicated to helping create a supportive environment for people to thrive in the ways that are most meaningful to them.

“I really enjoy being able to help our participants to achieve their goals. My favourite part about my role is getting to know what is important for my participants and their families so that I can work out the supports that are meaningful for them. It is a privilege to be a part of their journey,” said Rachel.

Rachel has completed a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and has more than 15 years of experience in Compulsory Third Party claims. She has an interest in the treatment, care and support needed to manage catastrophic injuries and for the last seven years has worked in roles managing serious personal injury claims.

“I have always enjoyed working in roles that help people who have been impacted by serious injuries. It is really rewarding to see people achieve their goals during their recovery. That is what inspires me,” Rachel said.

Rachel's highlight at the NIISQ Agency was a conversation she had with a NIISQ participant’s mother to advise that her son had been accepted as a lifetime participant.

“I could hear the relief and gratitude in her voice. I am so thrilled to be part of the NIISQ Agency, and to be contributing to assisting participants during a difficult time,” she said.

Renee has a Bachelor of Social Work and has fifteen years experience working with children and adults with complex disability support needs, providing clinical social work and case management.

Renee is passionate about working in partnership with people and supporting individuals to identify, plan and understand immediate and future needs.

"I want to promote inclusiveness and to support individuals to feel valued and respected within society. I am a strong advocate for individuals and enjoy developing networks and working collaboratively together to achieve positive outcomes for people," said Renee.

Roslyn has a Bachelor in Behavioural Science Psychology and a Diploma of Disabilities and has had an extensive human services career, including dedicated case management and support coordination roles within the disability sector.

“My passion for the community sector started at thirteen years old when I volunteered in my spare time for a disability support service. Since then, I have had the privilege of working with a variety of diverse individuals and families. I have a fundamental belief in working from a person-centred framework. My goal is to give NIISQ participants high-quality service where they feel empowered, respected and informed,” said Roslyn.

Samantha is no stranger to providing support and rehabilitation to seriously injured individuals and their families, having extensive medical training and education whilst working in rehabilitation and injury management for the majority of her career. 

Passionate about people, Samantha thrives on finding solutions for her participants and is very focused on achieving results no matter the situation.

“Being part of the Support Planning team means having genuine empathy and understanding, as well as being an effective problem solver.  I am passionate about being able to assist those who are adjusting as a result of a life changing injury ,” said Samantha.

Sean has a Bachelor in Occupational Therapy and has experience working as a Rehabilitation Consultant and Occupational Therapist, and case managing injured coal mine workers. 

Sean is also a qualified Occupational Therapy Driving Assessor, and holds a qualification in Lymphoedema Management Level 1. He applies his previous experience and education to help NIISQ participants to get the most out of their rehabilitation. 

“I joined the NIISQ Agency to be able to combine my case management, community and occupational therapy skills to help people. NIISQ helps Queenslanders to find meaning post-accident and move toward a better life. It is rewarding seeing participants achieve truly amazing things," said Sean.

Tovah has spent more than 17 years working as an exercise physiologist in occupational rehabilitation and in case management roles working with people living with a disability or severe injury.

“I enjoy working within a case management environment as I am able to contribute to the gradual progress of an injured person and see them go from strength to strength. I have always been drawn to working with people and building tangible relationships that make a difference to people’s lives. I feel honoured to play a key role in the injury management and rehabilitation progress of NIISQ participants.”

Trang is a qualified Occupational Therapist with previous experience working in disability employment services. Trang believes that being able to find the right support as early as possible can help participants to feel empowered. She is passionate about challenging community expectations of those living with disability and celebrating individual differences in diversity.

Nadine is a qualified Occupational Therapist with post graduate qualifications in ergonomics. She has more than 15 years experience in hospital, community and injury prevention roles, including case management experience helping people to return to work after serious injuries.

“I feel privileged to be in a position where I can assist people in what can be one of the most difficult periods of their lives. My favourite part about being in the Support Planning team is getting to know our participants and their families. I’m constantly in awe of the strength and resilience they display,” said Nadine.
