NIISQ Agency partners with Something Digital 2025 to explore the theme ‘Reimagine Human Intelligence’

The National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland (NIISQ) Agency is proud to have been the 2025 Thought Leader Partner for the Something Digital Festival, held on August 26–27 at the iconic Tivoli in Brisbane. The event brought together over 500 digital enthusiasts, industry leaders, and innovators to explore the theme Reimagine Human Intelligence and its potential to elevate individuals, organisations, and communities.

As a key partner, NIISQ played an integral role in shaping the conversation around how digital innovation can transform lives, particularly for people seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents. The festival’s focus on emerging technologies and bold ideas complements NIISQ’s mission to empower participants to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Highlights of the festival included:

  • Engaging discussions: NIISQ’s Director of Innovation and Research, Vivienne Neilan, moderated a panel titled From Voice Interfaces to Micro-Interactions: The Innovations Powering Digital Accessibility. The session offered practical insights into designing inclusive digital experiences and showcased innovations like adaptive design and inclusive communication.
  • Exclusive forum on accessibility: We hosted a hands-on workshop that reframed accessibility as a driver of innovation. Attendees looked at how focusing on lived experiences and recognising hidden biases can help create more inclusive digital solutions for the future.
  • World-Class programming: The festival featured inspiring talks and masterclasses, all centred on the powerful theme of reimagining human intelligence to shape the future of organisations and communities.

The partnership also allowed us to showcase our ongoing work in leveraging digital technologies to improve outcomes for participants. From assistive technologies to inclusive design, we are continuing to explore innovative ways to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those it supports.

Reflecting on the event, Vivienne Neilan shared, “Something Digital 2025 provided a unique platform to connect with thought leaders and innovators who share our vision of using technology to create inclusive and impactful solutions. It was inspiring to see the energy and ideas generated over the two days.”
