NIISQ – celebrating 10 years of connection, care and community
July 9, 2026
This year marks an important milestone for the National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland (NIISQ), 10 years of supporting Queenslanders with serious personal injuries to live meaningful, connected lives.
Over the past decade, NIISQ has grown alongside its participants, families, carers, service providers and research partners, building a community grounded in connection, care and shared experience. From everyday milestones to life-changing moments, at its heart, NIISQ is about people working together to achieve better outcomes.
Over 10 years, NIISQ has accepted more than 1100 participants into the scheme with 482 of these as lifetime participants (as 30/06/2026). NIISQ continues to:
- develop stronger connections between participants and their local communities
- share inspiring personal stories of resilience, progress and independence
- grow a network of services and supports across Queensland
- build strong partnerships through research, education and care providers (a full list of our projects)
This milestone is not just about looking back; it’s about celebrating the collective contribution of the NIISQ community and continuing to build those connections into the future, and it also marks the beginning of the next chapter.
NIISQ remains committed to continuing to:
- strengthen local connections
- support participants to achieve their goals
- work collaboratively with families, carers and providers
- build an inclusive and connected community
Thank you to everyone who has been part of the NIISQ journey so far.
Together, we look forward to the next 10 years of connection, care and community.
Stay connected
