SCI and TBI research participants needed for NIISQ funded tech enabled homes project

A National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland (NIISQ) funded research project investigating the benefits of technology-enabled homes for people with spinal cord injury (SCI) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) is looking for research participants.

The project, conducted by the University of the Sunshine Coast, will study how electronic technology such as voice-controlled personal assistants (Alexa, Google Home and Siri) can be integrated with other smart technologies (cameras, air conditioning, door openers, pet feeders and health monitoring sensors) to improve safety, home control, entertainment and socialisation for individuals living with SCI and TBI.

Researchers are seeking volunteers:

  • aged 18 years or older
  • who have either a SCI or TBI (or are the guardian of a person with TBI)
  • who have experience using electronic technology around the home to support activities of daily living.

For part 1 of the study, participants will be invited to complete an online survey and interview. For part 2, they will then be invited to a round table discussion workshop. Participation in both parts 1 and 2 can be in person or online.

If you are interested, please complete this expression of interest form.
