Capacity building for providers of cognitive rehabilitation
August 15, 2021
In late May 2021, we launched a research collaboration with Professor Jennifer Fleming and her team at the University of Queensland to help provide people with increased access to cognitive rehabilitation across Queensland.
With such a large percentage of NIISQ participants living with traumatic brain injuries, access to quality cognitive rehabilitation treatment, regardless of where they live in Queensland, is an important part of our purpose to empower participants to live their best lives.
The project will identify needs for providers in Queensland who work with NIISQ participants, and use this information to develop a program to build the capacity of providers such as psychologists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists who deliver cognitive rehabilitation.
We see this project helping NIISQ participants and the Scheme by building provider capacity across Queensland in cognitive rehabilitation and improving health, functional and participation outcomes of our participants.
We are excited to see where this project leads and the wider benefits it will bring.
The Agency has contributed $80,508 to the project which is expected to be completed by mid-2022.
